This game takes children on a journey throughSouth Africa with Owen, a fiery-haired eight-year-old with manyquestions and a keen eye for the little things!The entire game is played in both English and Afrikaanssimultaneously. Children can hear and read what Owen says/asks inboth languages, resulting in their becoming comfortable with theirsecond language.The object of the game is to move from level one (Cape Town)through all ten levels to level ten (Namaqualand) and back home. Atthe start, players will be asked to register as an English playeror an Afrikaans player. If English is selected, the player willhear and read all questions in English and Afrikaans, but will typethe given Afrikaans answer into the keyboard provided. It worksvice-versa for Afrikaans players (who will answer in English).Please be sure to read and hear the instructions which are providedat the start, once the player has selected their languagepreference.Players are rewarded with points per minigame (four minigamesper level) and an overall star rating per level. Only on completingeach level will the player be able to move to the next level(city/adventure).This game has been designed to help South African children withtheir second languages. For those who live with English as theirmother tongue, it helps them to feel at ease with the Afrikaanslanguage and, again, vice-versa for Afrikaans speakers.The game has been designed for children aged 6 to 12, but is notlimited to any age group. Adults who would like to betterunderstand their second languages can obviously play, too!At the end of the game, players can link to the Owen'sAdventures website and download their certificate ofachievement.Note: Internet connection required. For those playing on smallersmartphones, it is advised that they use a Stylus Pen to key-in theanswers.Although the game has been adjusted to suit 512MB devices, a 1GBdevice or up is recommended.
